Head of the Arabic Department (Arabic / Islamic Studies/ Quran) : Jilali Kattass

Mr. Kattass graduated with Teaching Certification from the Teacher Training Center in Taza, Morocco. He taught Arabic for nine years in various elementary and middle schools in Morocco, where he focused on the development of Arabic curriculum standards. He has more than 10 years of experience teaching Arabic in the United States. Mr. Kattass has been the head of the Arabic department for several years. He joined Renaissance since its inception. He is a high school student mentor producing a generation of very eloquent Khateebs.  

Head of the Elementary Department / Arabic Teacher 2nd Grade –High School: Ms. Laila Khater

Ms. Khater joined Renaissance Academy in 2012. She holds a state of TX Certification to Teach Arabic as a Second Language (ASL). She received her bachelor’s degree from Al Al-Bayt University in English Language and Literature with a minor in Education from Amman, Jordan. She taught English to elementary classes for one year in Amman, Jordan. Ms. Khater teaches Arabic from 2nd grade through middle and high school. She is a passionate, creative and dedicated teacher. She is extremely organized, artistic and talented. She finds ways to bring fun into her classroom and reach students with different learning styles. During the academic year of 2015 -2016, Ms. Khater was appointed as the Head of the Elementary Department for her proven record of reliability and the professionalism serving Renaissance Academy for 4 years before her well-deserved appointment. She is also the mother of three amazing Renaissance students.  

Elementary Islamic Studies & Quran teacher 2nd -5th Grade: Ms. Abeer Mouradi

Ms. Mouradi joined Renaissance Academy during the 2015-2016 academic year. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her areas of training include developmental psychology and behavior management. She has attended several post-graduate training programs including but is not limited to Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning Domains and Multiple Intelligences Theory, Applying Lawrence Kohlberg ‘s Model for School Discipline, and Bully- Free Schools: A Circle of Support for Learning. Ms. Mouradi is a native Arabic speaker and has been teaching Arabic /Quran and Islamic studies in an Islamic School in Michigan for 3 years before joining Renaissance using innovative, interactive and age-appropriate teaching techniques. Her experience in classroom management and developmental psychology is sure to enrich our school and our students.

Islamic studies, Arabic and Quran PK, KG and 1st grade: Ms. Radwa Salem: 

Ms. Salem joined Renaissance Academy during the 2018-2019 academic year. She has several years of experience teaching Quran and Islamic Studies classes in Mosques and Community centers both in the US and overseas.  She completed courses in Quran and Tajweed at Al Furqan Academy in Egypt. Ms. Salem excels in making the classroom fun, interactive and age-appropriate. She integrates movements, hands-on and art to teach the Arabic Alphabets and sentences thus making learning very enjoyable for her students.

Middle School Computer Classes, Islamic Studies / Quran and Arabic: Ms. Noor Al Aydie

Ms. Al Aydie joined Renaissance during the 2019-2020 academic year. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wayne State University in Detroit. She is a published and distinguished researcher with more than 10 publications in the area of Computer Science.  Ms. Al Aydie is the winner of many prestigious awards including Outstanding Graduate Student Scholarship award, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, USA. 2012 among many others. She volunteers to teach Quran and Arabic classes at a local mosque and is trained in Tajweed instruction
