Awards

During these past few years, Renaissance Academy students participated in multiple regional competitions. Alhamdulillah, they performed very well and we are happy to share the details of these achievements with the community whose support has always been an important factor in the school's success. These awards are a testament to the hard work and academic excellence of our students, the dedication and commitment of our teaching staff, and the concern and devotion of our parent body and community.

    Renaissance Academy Middle School student won 1st Place in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Division of the Exxon Mobile Texas Science and Engineering Fair held on April 3, 2011.

    In the Central Texas History Fair held at LBJ Library on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, Renaissance Academy students won 8 Middle School Place Awards and 12 High School Place Awards as well as the History Fair’s only special award - Making Renaissance Academy "The Best Performing School at both the Middle and the High School level"


    Renaissance Academy High School students earned:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in the Individual Exhibit category (2 students advancing to state)
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in the Group Exhibit category (4 students advancing to state)
  • 1st and 2nd Place in the Historical Paper category (2 students advancing to state)

  • Renaissance student also won The Locke, Lidell & Sapp LLP Legal History Award for best overall project dealing with an issue from legal history (this is the third year in a row, that a Renaissance Academy student has won this award, which is awarded from one of Austin’s prestigious law firms.)

    "Renaissance Academy Wins Third largest number of place awards in Junior division"

    We would like to congratulate our students for their excellent performance in the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival. Renaissance Middle School students did especially well winning 7 place awards and one special award. Competing against private and public schools from all over Central Texas (20 school districts), Renaissance Academy Middle School students won more place awards than any other private or public middle school with the exception of 2 public schools (both of which have more than 35 times the number of Middle School students as does Renaissance).

    In the "Junior/Middle School Division" Renaissance students won:


  •   2nd Place in Earth and Planetary Science (advanced to state level)
  •   Also won a U.S. Navy/Marine Science Special Award
  •   2nd Place in Medicine and Health Sciences (advanced to state level)
  •   4th Place in Medicine and Health Sciences
  •   4th Place in Environmental Management
  •   4th Place in Mathematical Sciences
  •   4th Place in Plant Sciences
  •   5th Place in Engineering: Materials and Bioengineering

  • In the "Senior/High School Division" , one of our 9th Graders (competing against 9th - 12th Grade students from all over Central Texas) won:

  •   1st Place in Physics and Astronomy (advanced to state level)
  • In the "Elementary Division", Renaissance students also did a marvelous job in the Regional Science Festival, with our students getting very high scores on the elementary scoring rubrics.

    Central Texas History Fair

    In the Regional History Fair that included schools from the same 20 districts, Renaissance students won:

  •   2nd Place overall in the Historical Paper competition (advanced to State level)
  •   History Fair's special award for best project that dealt with a legal issue


  • Central Texas Spelling Bee

    In the Regional Spelling Bee with schools from the same school districts, the Renaissance student representative achieved:

  •   3rd Place overall


  • Austin Energy Regional Science Festival

  •   Renaissance Academy Student won 1st Place in the Junior/Middle School Physics/Astronomy Division (and advanced to the State Level Competition)
  •   An Elementary Student won a Society of Women Engineers Special Award
  •   Two Renaissance students (one Middle School and one Elementary School) won Society for Science and the Public (SSP) Special Awards.


  • Regional Spelling Bee

  •   A Renaissance Academy student was the runner-up (second place) in the regional Spelling Bee comprising students from schools throughout Central Texas.


  • Geographic Bee

  •   A Renaissance Academy student advanced to State Level and was a Finalist (in the top 20) statewide in the Geographic Bee.

    Renaissance Education Foundation (REF) is an Austin based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to support youth activities that cater to the need of our community. REF's mission is to promote academic excellence, leadership skills, and distinguished moral principles in youth by providing infrastructural, operational and monetary support. Renaissance Academy is a REF initiative.
