Ice skating is a sport that started 4000 years ago in southern Finland. Students use ice skates that are made of steel with sharpened edges on the bottom to aid movement. The metal blades enable movement by helping students glide on ice with very little friction over the surface of the ice.
At Renaissance we are very fortunate to have an ice skating facility within 100meters. At Chaparral ice (http://www.chaparralice.com), our students spend 9 weeks every academic year building and developing excellent ice skating skills. Our program is designed to grow the competency of your child as they progress through different grade levels. Ice skating is offered from grades KG through High School. The class is lead by very well qualified Chapparal Ice instructors. At the end of the 9 week term, students receive their assessments reports.
Note: Since 2013, Renaissance has stopped offering ice skating as Chapparal ice closed its ice rink on I-35.
