Course Offerings

Renaissance students can take Dual Credit courses offered by Austin Community College. These courses will be offered at Renaissance Academy for all students contingent upon meeting minimum enrollment requirements set by ACC. ACC allows two courses during each semester for juniors and seniors. It is a valuable option for students to enrich their high school program. Dual Credit courses should be taken with prior approval of the principal. Link admission Students are responsible for ACC fees and for transportation to and from the ACC campus.

College Prep Program

The Advanced Placement Program (AP), sponsored by the College Board, offers students an opportunity to take college-level courses in high school. AP courses are designed for students to demonstrate high levels of aptitude, interest, and a commitment to a specific course topic. If students take AP exams and score in an acceptable range, advanced placement, credit, or both may be awarded upon college entrance. Students should contact directors of admissions at colleges of their choice to ask about specific advanced placement and credit policies.

College Admission Application Process

PSAT

Renaissance Students start taking the PSAT test in 9th grade. The PSAT/NMSQT prepares our students to get ready for SAT tests that are typically taken in the junior year. In the Junior year, students will take PSAT/NMSQT test to qualify for NMSQT scholarship. Visit collegeboard.org to learn more about PSAT/NMSQT testing and scholarship.

SAT

High School students need to take SAT test in their Junior Year in preparation for college admissions. Renaissance Academy will help students prepare for SAT by offering PSAT starting from 9th grade and will also incorporate the testing concepts in its curriculum. ACT

Some colleges require High School students to take the ACT tests to qualify for admission. ACT is offered several times a year and students are advised to take ACT at the tail end of their junior year or at the beginning of their senior year. SAT SUBJECT TESTS

SAT Subject Tests are allow students to demonstrate higher level of achievement in specific subject areas. These are national admissions tests that could help you differentiate yourself during the college admission process.
